This Privacy Policy describes how Parent Link collects, uses, and protects information in the Parent Link mobile application (“App”). Parent Link helps parents/guardians view their children’s school information—such as attendance, class-test progress, daily homework diary, and school announcements.
1) Information We Collect
A. From the School (account data)
- Student identifiers (e.g., student ID, admission number)
- School, class and section, attendance history
- Assessment/progress data for class tests and activities
- Homework diary entries and school announcements/events
- Student profile elements provided by the school (e.g., name, photo URL, guardian names)
B. From the App/Device (technical data)
- Device information (model, OS version), app version, and basic diagnostics
- Push notification token (to deliver announcements and alerts)
- Analytics events (e.g., screens opened, feature usage) — aggregated
We do not collect precise location, contacts, microphone, or camera data.
2) How We Use Information
- To authenticate parent/guardian access to their student’s records
- To display attendance, progress, homework, and announcements provided by the school
- To send push notifications about school events and important updates
- To maintain security, prevent misuse, and troubleshoot issues
- To improve App reliability and user experience (analytics)
We do not sell personal data. We do not use student data for advertising.
3) Legal Bases (where applicable)
- Legitimate interests in providing a secure parent–school communication channel
- Consent/authorization from the school for processing and displaying school-controlled records
- Contractual necessity to deliver the App’s features to authorized users
4) Data Shared With Service Providers
We use trusted processors solely to run the App:
- Google Firebase Analytics — aggregated app usage metrics
- Google Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) — device tokens to deliver push notifications
- Secure hosting and networking providers used by the school/our servers to deliver content
These providers act under our instructions and do not use the data for their own advertising.
5) Children’s Data
The App displays student information to parents/guardians and authorized school staff. Students do not create accounts directly in the App. Any child/student data is provided by the school and managed by the school administration. If you believe information was provided in error, please contact the school and us using the details below.
6) Data Accuracy & Corrections
Student records (attendance, progress, homework, announcements) originate from the respective school. Requests to correct, update, or delete student data should be addressed to the Principal’s office of the school. We will promptly support the school in applying approved changes within the App.
7) Data Retention
- Account/session data for parents is retained while the account remains active.
- Push tokens are retained only as long as needed to send notifications and are rotated periodically.
- Aggregated analytics are retained for operational insight and security; no advertising profiles are built.
- School-provided records are retained according to the school’s policy and instructions.
8) Security
- Encryption in transit (HTTPS) and access controls
- Role-based access (only authorized guardians/school staff can view student records)
- Credential and token protections, regular dependency updates
No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we maintain reasonable safeguards to protect data.
9) International Transfers
Depending on hosting and service-provider locations, information may be processed in countries other than your own. Where required, we implement appropriate safeguards or rely on the school’s data sharing instructions.
10) Your Rights
You may have rights to access, correct, download, or delete data, subject to law and school policies. Typical options:
- Request access/correction via your school’s administration/Principal’s office
- Request account removal for your guardian account via our contact email below
- Opt out of non-essential notifications by disabling them in the device App settings
11) Cookies & Similar Technologies
The mobile App does not use browser cookies. SDKs (e.g., Firebase) may collect device/app identifiers strictly to provide analytics and notifications functionality.
12) Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy to reflect product, legal, or operational changes. The “Last updated” date will change. Material updates will be communicated through the App or the Play Store listing.
